Job summary

Vortex Companies in Houston, TX seeks a Director of HSE – Services to lead safety and environmental programs across multiple locations. You will develop policies, ensure OSHA/EPA compliance, drive proactive safety culture, and partner with Operations, PM, HR, and Fleet to embed safety in project planning and execution.

Travel about 50%, manage field safety managers, conduct incident investigations, monitor metrics, oversee training, and stay current with regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
• Min. 10 years in HSE with multi-site experience.
• Min. 5 years in leadership of safety professionals.
• TWIC and valid passport required.
• Certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHST, ASP, OHST preferred.
• Willingness to travel ~50%.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for all health, safety, and environmental programs supporting field operations across multiple locations.
• Develop, implement, and improve HSE policies, procedures, standards, and best practices for regulatory compliance and excellence.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, state and local regulations and industry standards.
• Lead safety culture through hazard recognition, engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee risk assessments, JHAs, pre-task planning, and safety planning for high-risk projects.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
