Job summary

Putnam Recruiting Group is seeking a Director of HR & Payroll for a client in Los Angeles County. This on-site leadership role requires deep union construction payroll knowledge and hands-on supervision of a large HR/payroll team, with ownership of high-volume payroll and compliance functions.

Job description

We're hiring a Director of HR & Payroll for our client, a Construction Company in Los Angles County.

This is an on-site, hands-on leadership role for someone who knows California union construction payroll inside and out. You'll lead and develop an HR/payroll team, own a high-volume payroll and compliance function, and improve the processes and controls behind it.

The right person brings:

• 5+ years in union construction payroll and 3+ years of people leadership.
• Deep experience with prevailing wage, certified payroll, multiple union CBAs, fringe benefits, and California labor requirements
• Familiarity with DIR reporting and platforms such as eCPR or LCPtracker
• Experience leading a team while remaining comfortable getting into the details to resolve payroll and compliance issues
• A track record of building reliable, repeatable processes in a construction environment

Backgrounds with union subcontractors, specialty contractors, general contractors, or public works and infrastructure firms are especially relevant.

This is a high-volume, field-heavy construction environment with roughly 400-600 field employees and 800-1,200 hires/rehires annually as workers cycle on and off projects.
