Job summary

Dark Horse Comics is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead the HR function, including payroll, benefits, compliance, recruitment, employee and labor relations, training, and policy.

Reporting to the Head of Finance and Administration, this role manages a small HR team and serves as the primary contact with the union, ensuring the organization operates in compliance with policy and law while supporting a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum ten years of progressive HR experience
• At least three years in an HR leadership role
• Experience with labor relations in a unionized environment
• Proven ability to advise executive leadership

Responsibilities

• Lead HR function including payroll, benefits, compliance, recruitment, employee relations, and policy.
• Manage HR team and serve as day-to-day contact with the union
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
• Oversee investigations, performance management, and employee training
• Develop and communicate HR policies and workforce communications
• Oversee payroll auditing and benefits administration
