Qualifications

• REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: License: Possession of a license as a California Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS), AND
• Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in an environmental health agency, including three (3) years supervising professionals.
• DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Science, Public Administration, or related field; driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements branch wide policies, procedures, strategic initiatives, and operational priorities.
• Leads daily operations for major Environmental Health regulatory programs and ensures compliance with public health mandates.
• Supervises program managers, assigns work, and participates in long-range planning and policy development.
• Oversees enforcement actions and serves as primary hearing officer for abatement conferences.
• Maintains quality and continuous improvement across programs by SOPs, data analysis, and program development.
• Leads workforce planning, staff development, and resolution of personnel matters.
