Job summary

The Illinois Bankers Association (IBA) seeks an experienced Director of Government Relations to advance the banking industry's priorities in Illinois. You will lead day-to-day advocacy, engage lawmakers, and build strong relationships with policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders, while representing IBA at events and hearings.

Based in Illinois with travel across the state and occasional national engagement, you will translate complex policy into clear guidance for members and leadership and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in government, politics, public policy, law, communications, business, or related field.
• At least five years of experience in government relations, legislative affairs, public policy, advocacy, or regulatory affairs.
• Ability to translate complex legislation into clear implications and actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day advocacy on legislative, regulatory, and policy portfolios.
• Represent IBA in meetings, hearings, and coalition discussions.
• Develop relationships with legislators, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyze legislation, regulations, and hearings; provide timely recommendations.
• Prepare testimony, letters, talking points, and advocacy materials.
• Translate issues into actionable messages for members and leadership.
