Job summary

Human Trafficking Legal Center is seeking a Development Director to lead the organization’s development program. You will report to the President and oversee fundraising, donor relations, and communications.

The role involves implementing a Board-approved strategy to diversify the donor portfolio, including foundations, individuals, and law firms, plus supervision of a Development team. The role requires strong leadership, exceptional writing, and proven success in nonprofit fundraising.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of fundraising and development experience, preferably in nonprofit work.
• Passion for human rights and survivors’ rights.
• Strong track record with foundations, individuals, and institutional donors.
• Experience with event planning and major donor campaigns.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to supervise staff and volunteers.
• Experience in leadership roles and collaboration with staff, Board, and constituents.

Responsibilities

• Continue implementation of Board-approved development plan aligned with the strategic plan.
• Identify, solicit, and steward gifts from individuals, foundations, law firms, and corporations.
• steward current funders through personalized communications.
• Draft funding proposals and reports with programmatic team.
• Ensure donor reporting obligations and program commitments.
• Lead annual fundraising events and online campaigns; manage special appeals.
• Maintain donor databases and ensure data quality in Bloomerang.
• Supervise Communications Manager and Development Associate; mentor staff.
• Collaborate with President and Board on fundraising initiatives and strategy.
