HRtoGO is conducting a confidential search on behalf of an established healthcare organization for an onsite Director of Finance & Accounting position in Sacramento. We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance & Accounting to lead accounting operations, including financial reporting, month-end close, accounts payable, purchasing, and payroll administration. This position will lead the redesign and modernization of accounting processes and systems, oversee the accounting team, and serve as a key financial partner to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, and payroll
  • Manage the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate delivery of financial statements to the CEO
  • Redesign and modernize accounting processes, including transitioning manual processes to more automated, efficient workflows
  • Evaluate the organization's accounting/ERP system and lead any system upgrades or transitions
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget, financial forecasts, and variance analysis
  • Build and maintain financial dashboards and reporting tools to give leadership real-time visibility into performance
  • Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to the Board of Directors
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, applicable industry regulations, and tax filing requirements
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax preparers, banks, and insurance providers
  • Evaluate and recommend banking products, credit facilities, and financing options (e.g., business credit cards, lines of credit, equipment financing) to support operational and capital needs
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital to proactively identify and recommend financing needs
  • Supervise, evaluate, and develop accounting department staff
  • Assess current staffing levels and organizational structure and recommend changes as needed
  • Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO on operational and strategic decisions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises the accounting department team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, and addressing performance issues.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA or CMA license preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience leading an accounting process redesign or system implementation
  • Experience preparing and presenting financial information to a Board of Directors or senior executives
  • Experience evaluating and negotiating banking relationships, credit facilities, or financing arrangements
  • Healthcare or medical services industry experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and accrual-basis accounting
  • Proficiency with mid-market accounting/ERP systems
  • Experience building financial dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, BI/reporting software)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, develop, and, when necessary, restructure a team
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to boards or senior leadership
  • Ability to work directly with executive leadership and translate financial information for a non-financial audience

Salary range of $130-150K
