About the role

The Director of Finance is a hands‑on, growth‑oriented finance leader responsible for strengthening financial operations across Intersurgical’s United States organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance - US, this role will initially lead the stabilization and improvement of Accounts Payable (AP), including high-volume invoice processing, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, internal controls, and team effectiveness. The Director directly supervises the AP team and partners closely with the existing Accounting Manager, who separately leads Accounts Receivable (AR).

As AP operations stabilize, the Director will progressively assume broader finance responsibilities, including month‑end financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning. This role offers exposure to US and global finance leadership and the opportunity to develop toward future executive finance responsibilities; advancement is based on performance and organizational needs and is not guaranteed.

Key responsibilities
AP Stabilization and Operational Improvement — Initial Priority
  • Assess AP backlogs, aged payables, vendor accounts, invoice approval and payment workflows, and recurring errors; create and execute a prioritized remediation plan.
  • Directly engage in detailed transaction review, reconciliations, issue resolution, and ERP workflows when needed to restore accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strengthen high‑volume invoice processing, three‑way matching where applicable, vendor master controls, payment controls, documentation, and escalation procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve intercompany invoicing, balances, journal entries, and reconciliation discrepancies in partnership with US and group finance colleagues.
  • Develop clear AP metrics, standard operating procedures, ownership, and month‑end cutoffs; monitor sustained process performance.
People Leadership and Cross‑Functional Partnership
  • Directly supervise, coach, prioritize work for, and evaluate the two‑person AP team; build accountability and technical capability.
  • Work alongside the Accounting Manager, who retains oversight of AR, to coordinate handoffs, reconciliations, close activities, and shared controls without duplicating reporting lines.
  • Partner with Purchasing, Operations, receiving teams, vendors, and global finance counterparts to address root causes and improve transaction quality.
Expanding Accounting and Finance Responsibilities — Following Stabilization
  • Take on increasing responsibility for month‑end close, general ledger integrity, financial statement review, accruals, reconciliations, and management reporting in coordination with the VP of Finance and Accounting Manager.
  • Support annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash‑flow and working‑capital analysis, and explanations of actual‑to‑plan variances.
  • Develop financial dashboards and actionable analysis for US leadership, including manufacturing and operational performance.
  • Participate in financial planning, process automation, systems improvement, and cross‑functional decision support as capacity and readiness permit.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 6+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including hands‑on AP, general ledger, reconciliations, and month‑end exposure; equivalent experience considered.
  • Demonstrated success improving broken or inefficient financial processes and leading practical change.
  • Experience managing or formally leading accounting staff and navigating high‑volume transactions.
  • Strong ERP proficiency and experience with intercompany invoicing, entries, and reconciliations.
  • Ability and willingness to work at the transaction level while developing broader financial leadership capability.
Preferred
  • Manufacturing, distribution, medical device, or other multi‑entity operating environment experience.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, management reporting, and business‑partnering experience.
  • CPA or CMA; budgeting, forecasting, FP&A exposure; international parent/subsidiary experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, and judgment under operational pressure.
  • Ability to establish priorities, document processes, coach a small team, and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Clear communication with transactional staff, operational partners, executives, and global stakeholders.
  • Comfort balancing immediate AP cleanup, accounting rigor, and longer‑term finance planning and leadership development.

We are passionate about the well‑being of others and that begins with caring for our people.

  • Multiple opportunities to be challenged and step up your career in a fast‑growth company
