Job summary

The City of St. Peters is seeking a Director of Field Operations to oversee the Sanitary Collection Systems and Water Distribution Systems. This leadership role will supervise Field Operations and Utility Locate teams, manage budgets, and shape policies for maintenance, projects, and regulatory compliance.

You will guide long-term planning, ensure emergency plan readiness, and manage procurement and contracts while maintaining safety standards and community service excellence.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus five years of municipal utility management experience.
• Missouri Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within one year.
• Knowledge of wastewater collections and water distribution systems; permitting experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Field Operations and Utility Locate staff, including hiring, evaluation, and scheduling.
• Oversee budget preparation and financial management aligned with the budget.
• Develop and implement administrative policies and capital purchases.
• Ensure proactive maintenance and rapid response to equipment and infrastructure needs.
• Address resident inquiries, concerns, and complaints with a focus on service quality.
• Lead long-term planning to enhance utility programs, personnel, and equipment.
• Ensure emergency operation plan readiness and compliance with safety standards.
• Manage procurement, construction, and professional services contracts.
