Job summary

City of St. Peters seeks a Director of Field Operations to lead the development, operations, maintenance, and repair of sanitary collection and water distribution systems. The role oversees inspections, maintenance, and repairs, and supervises Field Operations and Utility Locate staff.

Normal shift is 40 hours/week, M-F, typically 7:00-3:30. The position requires a Civil Engineering background and a Missouri PE license or the ability to obtain it within one year.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field and five years in municipal utility management or equivalent.
• Possess a Missouri Professional Engineer license or obtain one within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and leadership to Field Operations and Utility Locate staff, including hiring, evaluation, and scheduling.
• Oversee budget preparation and financial management, ensuring alignment with budgetary guidelines.
• Develop and implement administrative policies, regulatory actions, and capital purchase decisions.
• Ensure proactive maintenance and rapid response to equipment and infrastructure needs.
• Address resident inquiries, concerns, and complaints with a focus on service excellence.
• Lead long-term planning to enhance utility programs, personnel, and equipment.
• Ensure the emergency operation plan is ready and all materials and equipment are current.
• Manage procurement, construction, and professional services contracts.
• Maintain compliance with City safety standards and regulations.
