Job summary

Community of Hope is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead maintenance and operations across health centers and shelters in Washington, DC. The role requires managing daily operations, safety, and regulatory compliance while aligning with the agency’s mission to serve vulnerable populations.

You will oversee inspections, emergency planning, and capital improvements, coordinating with leadership to ensure spaces are safe, accessible, and welcoming for clients and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in facilities management or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Seven+ years of facilities/operations leadership experience.
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, fire/life safety, security).
• Strong understanding of workplace safety, accessibility, regulatory compliance, and inspections.
• Ability to respond to urgent facility needs, including after-hours.
• Ability to support facilities serving vulnerable populations with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Demonstrated dependability and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily operations, preventive maintenance, repair, inspection, and long-range planning across health centers and shelters.
• Performs regular facility inspections to ensure safe, accessible, and welcoming spaces.
• Maximizes MaintainX CMMS for work orders, preventive maintenance, asset records, and reporting.
• Leads emergency planning, drills, and liaison with Safety/Emergency Preparedness Committee.
• Provides capital improvement recommendations and partners on project delivery with Capital team.
• Mentors staff, provides feedback, and facilitates training opportunities.
• Applies DEI and TIC principles in management and operations.
• Oversees performance evaluations and staff development; coordinates talent management.
