Job summary

Wittenberg University in Ohio seeks a Director of Facilities Management to lead a skilled crafts and custodial team. The role sets priorities, schedules maintenance, coordinates with vendors and reports to the VP of Administration.

Essential duties include supervising trades, planning projects, and maintaining records, while ensuring safety, compliance and efficient use of resources across campus.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent combination of demonstrated field experience.
• 4–6 years of relevant working experience, including 2–4 years supervisory.
• Prior experience using work order systems.
• Working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, elevators, generators, fire alarms, etc.
• Ability to plan and design small in-house projects.
• Able to respond to emergencies with evening or weekend availability.
• Valid driver's license and compliance with relevant policies.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, supervise and participate in maintenance of utilities, buildings and equipment.
• Develop schedules for skilled trades and ensure duties are performed efficiently.
• Supervise staff performance; inspect facilities and address deficiencies.
• Maintain communication with staff and campus customers affected by work.
• Engage vendors for estimates and coordinate campus projects.
• Provide training on safety, equipment operation and maintenance.
• Research and update policies and project plans as needed.
• Keep records of work performed and materials used, including timekeeping.
