Job summary

SEMCOA is seeking a dedicated Director of Facilities to oversee environmental operations for its programs in New Bedford, MA. You will manage HVAC, safety, regulatory compliance and capital projects while reporting to the COO from the New Bedford location.

The role requires 10+ years in environment-related work with healthcare setting experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field. It offers a full-time schedule with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of environmental experience with at least 5 years in healthcare or similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and fire protection systems.
• Leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to manage staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or facility management discipline preferred.
• At least 5 years of practical experience managing facilities in a large campus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee HVAC, fire protection, grounds, building maintenance and capital projects to ensure smooth operations.
• Develop, implement and evaluate housekeeping, maintenance, transportation, and safety policies for effectiveness and compliance.
• Implement CQI programs and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment functionality.
• Perform routine inspections and audits to ensure safety and compliance.
• Lead safety committee, manage Emergency Preparedness Plans, and promote a culture of safety.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including building codes and utility requirements.
• Supervise internal staff and external contractors; manage HR functions including payroll.
• Oversee capital improvement projects and provide maintenance leadership as needed.
• Maintain life safety management and esthetically pleasing environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
