Peckham in Lansing, MI is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead our facilities operations across campuses, ensure safety, compliance, and sustainable practices, and drive capital projects.

The Director of Facilities is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational direction, and continuous improvement of Peckham's facilities, grounds, capital projects, workplace experience, food services, procurement support, safety, compliance, and security operations. This position oversees multiple functional teams and managers to ensure Peckham facilities remain safe, operational, compliant, sustainable, and aligned with organizational goals. Working closely with the Vice President of Facilities, the Director develops and executes departmental strategies, manages major facility initiatives, and ensures consistent service delivery across all Peckham locations.
Direct and oversee the daily operations of the Facilities Department, including building maintenance, grounds, capital projects, repairs, workplace experience, procurement support, food services, safety, compliance, and security functions. Provide coaching, mentorship, performance management, succession planning, and professional development to employees. Establish operational priorities and execute short- and mid-term facilities strategies that support organizational growth, workplace safety, employee experience, accessibility, sustainability, risk management, and service excellence. Oversee facility maintenance, preventive maintenance programs, major repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and cost effective. Direct the planning, budgeting, implementation, and successful completion of facilities projects, vendor contracts, renovations, furniture systems, equipment installations, and infrastructure improvements. Collaborate with the Vice President of Facilities in the development and management of departmental budgets, capital expenditure plans, business plans, and long-range facility strategies. Provide oversight of procurement, inventory management, purchasing processes, contract management, RFPs, RFQs, vendor relationships, and departmental spending to ensure effective stewardship of organizational resources. Direct organizational safety, compliance, fire safety, emergency preparedness, security, insurance compliance, regulatory inspections, and risk mitigation efforts in partnership with the Safety & Compliance Manager and organizational leaders. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, licensing, accreditation, insurance, food safety, environmental, accessibility, and workplace safety requirements. Lead workplace experience initiatives, including space planning, furnishings, signage, workplace standards, facility aesthetics, environmental improvements, and employee engagement within physical work environments. Oversee food service operations to ensure quality, safety, customer service, inventory management, and alignment with organizational wellbeing initiatives. Develop performance measures, operational metrics, reporting systems, and continuous improvement initiatives to evaluate departmental effectiveness and service quality. Build collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders, external contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and vendors to advance organizational objectives and achieve successful outcomes. Lead regular meetings with team to communicate departmental goals, review operational performance, and ensure consistent application of practices. Perform routine quality checks on completed work and address issues promptly to maintain standards and support continuous improvement with focus on customer satisfaction and communication. Keep updated on corporate security trends, Peckham emergency policies/procedures, and attend trainings as needed. Ensures all employees follow all facility safety policies and procedures and maintain security of key assignments at all times. Work with Food Service Team providing support when needed. Coordinates with multiple departments for continual space improvement needs.

Facilities This position requires frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and operating machinery and tools. Tasks such as painting, handling sharp or hot objects, and working in confined spaces or on wet or slippery surfaces are common.
