Key responsibilities include overseeing departmental staffing and scheduling, managing supply budgets, implementing quality assurance programs, and serving as the primary point of escalation for operational issues. Reporting to the Director, the Associate Manager plays a critical role in coaching supervisors, executing departmental strategy, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Partner with Human Resources and the Director in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new Custodial Supervisors.
  • Create and adjust daily work schedules to ensure optimal coverage for assigned areas, manage overtime, and manage minor staffing changes.
  • Perform routine quality checks on completed work and address issues promptly to maintain standards and support continuous improvement.
  • Support the execution and implementation of new cleaning protocols, ensuring team follows cleaning protocols and safety procedures, providing reminders and retraining as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for significant operational, client, or personnel issues that supervisors are unable to resolve.
  • Monitor supply usage and report needs to the manager to help control costs and maintain inventory.
  • Analyze operational data (e.g., inspection scores, project completion times) to measure performance against standards, identify areas for improvement, and support supervisors with data‑driven coaching.
  • Monitor custodial operations to ensure service standards are consistently met; review performance metrics and implement interventions to achieve quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction goals.
What you will Need
  • High School (HS) Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2 - 4 years of direct experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a custodial, facilities, or operational setting, with demonstrated responsibility for managing staff performance, training, and scheduling.
  • May require working early morning, evening, or weekend shifts based on site needs.
  • Must maintain an unrestricted driver’s license and possess a clear driving record (in accordance with company insurance policy) to drive the company vehicle.
  • Ability to make effective decisions with a focus on business acumen.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple supervisors, schedules, and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficient in using standard computer software for supervisory tasks such as email communication, timekeeping approvals, and generating daily reports.

  • Experience managing multiple teams or shifts.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop other leaders, utilizing strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster accountability and a positive team culture.
  • Advanced problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills, with proficiency in using computer software to analyze data and track performance metrics to identify and resolve operational challenges.
  • In‑depth knowledge of custodial operations, including industry best practices, quality assurance standards, and safety/compliance regulations (e.g., OSHA).
