Overview

The Director of Executive Operations to the CEO serves as a strategic thought partner, operational leader, and trusted gatekeeper. This hybrid role combines the tactical execution of an Executive Assistant with the strategic oversight of a Chief of Staff, ensuring the CEO’s time, energy, and priorities are focused on the organization’s most critical goals. The individual in this role will manage executive operations, lead key cross-functional initiatives, and provide high-level administrative and logistical support with discretion and professionalism.

Location: Maryland

Salary: $105,000 - $120,000 (commensurate with experience)

Key Responsibilities
Executive Office Management & Strategic Support
  • Partner with the CEO to set priorities, track progress, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead and manage special projects, initiatives, and strategic planning processes on behalf of the CEO.
  • Act as a liaison between the CEO and senior leadership, staff, board members, and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and reports for high-level meetings and engagements.
  • Monitor organizational performance metrics, follow up on action items, and ensure accountability.
Executive Administration & Calendar Management
  • Manage the CEO’s complex calendar, including prioritizing and scheduling meetings, travel, and events.
  • Prepare and organize agendas, talking points, and supporting documents for meetings.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel, accommodations, and itineraries.
  • Draft and edit correspondence, communications, and presentations on behalf of the CEO.
Governance & Board Relations
  • Support preparation of board meeting agendas, materials, and minutes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all board interactions.
Operational Coordination
  • Anticipate the CEO’s needs and proactively address operational and logistical issues.
  • Optimize processes and workflows to improve efficiency in the Executive Office.
  • Manage budgets and expense reports for the CEO and executive initiatives.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of combined experience in executive support, operations, or project management.
  • Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional projects and leading through influence.

Travel Requirements
