Job summary

NC State University in Raleigh seeks a Director of Environmental Services to provide strategic leadership for a large, diverse department serving academic, athletics, housing, hospital, research, and dining facilities. You will manage a sizable budget and lead a team of 320 permanent staff plus 20-40 temporary staff, driving sustainability and operational excellence campus-wide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and seven years of professional experience with supervisory experience.
• Experience in a large institutional organization is required.
• Preferred certifications include IEHA and APPA CEFP.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and overall direction for Environmental Services.
• Lead a workforce of about 320 permanent employees and 20-40 temporary staff.
• Oversee a roughly $17 million annual operating budget.
• Direct environmental services across campus facilities including custodial, floor care, and recycling.
• Develop and administer vendor contracts and service agreements.
• Establish SOPs, SLAs, quality standards, and reporting practices.
• Oversee recruitment, performance management, and workforce development.
• Lead the Green Cleaning Program and sustainability initiatives.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Facilities management or related field
