Job summary

LegitScript is seeking a Senior Director of Engineering to lead through engineering managers, set standards, and ensure the software commitments ship reliably. You will own feasibility, approach, and cost across squads, drive architectural direction, and partner with product leadership to distinguish product intent from technical execution.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with 4+ years leading engineers or managers.
• Experience delivering complex B2B software, ideally SaaS, fintech, regtech, or related domains.
• Experience owning delivery across multiple teams with capacity planning and forecasting.
• Credibility in estimation and ability to fix systems with bad estimates.
• Strong collaboration with product leadership and clear boundary between product intent and technical execution.
• Depth in architecture, API/integration design, and data modeling with discernment to defer when needed.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery across squads, including capacity planning, forecasting, and visibility into commitments.
• Support feasibility, approach, and cost for co-signed bets from engineering.
• Sequence work, surface risk early, and convert slips into informed decisions.
• Set engineering quality standards: design reviews, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Own reliability, monitoring, and incident response for services run by squads.
• Partner with staff engineers on architecture direction and shared platform alignment.
• Reduce operational toil through automation, replatforming, and debt visibility for funding.
• Lead and grow engineering managers, managing hiring, performance, and career development.
• Develop tech leads and senior engineers for a strong technical bench.
• Define and track engineering health metrics: delivery predictability, cycle time, deployment frequency, time to recovery.
• Report progress, risk, and trade-offs with clarity to leadership, product, and executives.
