Job summary

Align Production Systems in Decatur, IL seeks a Director of Engineering Quality & Processes, a senior mechanical design engineer with a proven track record in quality leadership. You will set design and build standards, own quality from design release through customer acceptance, and empower the team to ship reliable machines.

Responsibilities include enforcing design release standards, leading root-cause analyses, and guiding field installations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on mechanical design engineering experience in custom machinery, industrial automation, or capital equipment.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline).
• 5+ years leading quality or engineering process standards across design and manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience including design review, release and change control, functional testing, and FAT.
• Field installation and commissioning on large mechanical and automated systems.
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks, PDM, and ERP.

Responsibilities

• Own the quality system across engineering, manufacturing, and the field with clear standards and accountability.
• Hold an engineering release or shipment that does not meet standard, escalating to the Director of Operations.
• Lead root cause and corrective action on every field issue and trace warranty costs to source.
• Run post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and update standards.
• Define design release standards and stage-gate criteria within our process.
• Review and challenge engineers on technical merit, scope, manufacturability, and safety.
