Job summary

Align Production Systems in Decatur, IL is seeking a Director of Engineering Quality & Processes to set design and build standards. You will own quality from design release through customer acceptance, with authority to hold releases that don't meet standards.

The role requires hands-on mechanical design experience, strong quality leadership, and experience with 3D CAD, PDM, and ERP. On-site work with travel to St. Louis as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years as a hands-on mechanical design engineer in custom machinery or capital equipment.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years leading quality or engineering process standards across design and manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience including design review, release and change control, functional testing, and FAT.
• Field installation and commissioning experience on large mechanical and automated systems.
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), PDM, and ERP.
• Based on-site in Decatur, IL, with travel to St. Louis office and customer sites; relocation not provided.

Responsibilities

• Make zero field failures the standard: own quality from design release to customer acceptance.
• Define design release standards and stage-gate criteria; review technical merit and manufacturability.
• Set machine build standards, FAT procedures, and testing protocols.
• Lead pretest, FAT, and field installation activities; drive root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
