You will mentor staff, oversee ECN changes, coordinate with production and quality, ensure manufacturability and safety, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and develop mechanical and electrical engineering personnel; establish clear responsibilities, priorities, performance expectations, and accountability.
• Provide technical and managerial oversight to the ECN Coordinator and ensure engineering changes are properly reviewed, documented, approved, communicated, and implemented.
• Directly manage the Sustaining Engineering Manager and maintain accountability for the performance of the sustaining engineering function, including existing-product quality, reliability, corrective actions, production support, service issues, dive testing, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure focus on New Product Development does not reduce appropriate engineering attention to released products, production issues, field concerns, or sustaining-engineering priorities.
• Work closely with Production and Quality to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability, testability, serviceability, repeatability, quality, and efficient production.
• Ensure appropriate design reviews, risk reviews, verification, validation, testing, and documentation are completed before products are released to production.
• Maintain overall responsibility for product safety considerations throughout the design process, including identification of foreseeable risks, appropriate design controls, testing, warnings, documentation, and risk mitigation.
• Identify applicable regulatory, industry, legal, and certification requirements for new products and ensure required approvals, testing, documentation, and certifications are incorporated into development schedules.
• Coordinate with outside laboratories, consultants, certification organizations, legal resources, or technical specialists when required to support product compliance and launch.
