Position Summary

The Director of Engineering & Maintenance Manager will lead the facility’s manufacturing engineering, maintenance, reliability, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position will play a critical role in improving equipment reliability, production capacity, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), preventative maintenance compliance, and operational performance.

The ideal candidate is an engineering-minded manufacturing leader who combines strong mechanical and manufacturing engineering expertise with hands‑on experience leading maintenance teams and improving plant operations. This individual should be comfortable working on the manufacturing floor, troubleshooting equipment, developing technical solutions, and leading long‑term engineering and reliability strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Management & Manufacturing Engineering

• Lead manufacturing engineering, maintenance, reliability, and plant improvement initiatives.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes, equipment performance, production flow, and facility systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and implement engineering standards, equipment specifications, maintenance procedures, and operating best practices.
• Lead equipment modifications, line improvements, automation initiatives, tooling enhancements, and process optimization projects.
• Support new equipment selection, installation, commissioning, validation, and production ramp‑up.
• Partner with Production and Quality to improve throughput, capacity, product consistency, and process capability.
• Develop and maintain equipment layouts, technical documentation, specifications, and engineering records.
• Provide technical leadership for mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, controls, and facility‑related systems.
• Support new product introductions, line expansions, and operational readiness initiatives.
• Manage outside contractors, equipment suppliers, engineering partners, and service providers.

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

• Lead Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify and eliminate sources of waste, downtime, variation, excess labor, and production inefficiency.
• Facilitate Kaizen events, 5S programs, value‑stream improvement, and structured problem‑solving activities.
• Improve OEE through increased availability, performance, and quality.
• Use data and performance metrics to prioritize improvement opportunities and measure results.
• Lead root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action initiatives.
• Establish sustainable processes that ensure improvements are maintained over time.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability across the plant.

Maintenance & Reliability Leadership

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Establish preventative maintenance schedules, inspection standards, lubrication programs, and equipment care procedures.
• Ensure maintenance plans are completed on schedule and properly documented.
• Lead reliability‑centered maintenance and root cause analysis activities for recurring equipment failures.
