Qualifications

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead all plant maintenance activities and ensure manufacturing equipment, systems, and facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position plays a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime, improving manufacturing performance, controlling maintenance costs, and supporting overall plant objectives.

The Maintenance Manager will lead and develop the maintenance team while partnering closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Safety, and other departments to implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, improve equipment reliability, and minimize unplanned downtime.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on maintenance leader with strong manufacturing experience, demonstrated technical knowledge, and a proven ability to develop teams, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for plant maintenance operations and maintenance personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all established safety, health, quality, GMP, company, and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and availability.
• Investigate equipment failures and recurring breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Develop maintenance strategies and procedures that improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce downtime, and lower operating costs.
• Partner closely with Production and Operations leadership to coordinate maintenance activities while minimizing disruption to manufacturing schedules.
• Collaborate with Engineering on equipment upgrades, machinery improvements, automation, and other initiatives designed to increase plant performance.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, throughput, efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness.
• Develop, manage, and control the maintenance budget while identifying opportunities to reduce costs and eliminate unnecessary or repetitive expenditures.
• Manage maintenance parts, supplies, tools, contractors, and vendor relationships to support efficient plant operations.
• Lead the selection, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and development of maintenance personnel.
• Assess departmental training needs and implement programs to strengthen technical capabilities and maintenance effectiveness.
• Conduct regular maintenance department meetings and participate in plant staff, operational planning, shift, and safety meetings.
• Work with vendors, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and other external partners as required.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, safety, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
• Lead or participate in equipment installations, upgrades, plant improvement initiatives, and other special projects.
• Travel up to 25% as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant maintenance experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of maintenance supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing maintenance technicians and skilled trades personnel.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices, equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement.
• Experience supporting manufacturing machinery, production equipment, mechanical systems, and electrical systems.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets, spare parts, vendors, contractors, and maintenance-related expenses.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing safety requirements, GMPs, and established maintenance procedures.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize maintenance activities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong computer skills; experience working with CMMS or other maintenance management systems is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Production, Engineering, Quality, Safety, and other plant functions.
