Job summary

Royal Switchgear Manufacturing, a MacLean Power Systems company, seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the onsite engineering department in Bessemer, Alabama and oversee a 3rd party team in India. You will design products per IEEE specs and customer requirements, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Manufacturing Engineering to drive process improvements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited school.
5+ years of relevant business and 3+ years supervisory experience.
Self-motivation with a positive, adaptive, and success-seeking mindset.
Working knowledge of Engineering principles, IEEE specifications and test methods.
Communication and interpersonal skills
Computer hardware and software experience in CAD and CNC programming.
Professional Engineering certification is desirable but not required.
MBA is desirable but not required.
Timely and well-organized communicator.
Experience with ERP systems, INFOR SyteLine is a plus.
Power and/or electrical system knowledge.

Responsibilities

Supervise and direct onsite engineering department and a 3rd party engineering team in India.
Communicates with other departments and vendors on technical matters as required.
Providing support for Sales, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing Engineering.
Designing products based upon the interpretation of IEEE specifications, customer specifications, and acceptable manufacturing processes.
Providing supervision/development of Engineering personnel
Assisting in business planning.
Reviewing or developing BOMs to meet customer product requirements.
Training RSMC personnel and sales agents regarding product design.
Maintaining good working relationships with peers in all departments.
Specifying and documenting the requirements for materials, processes, and products including all Engineering documentation (drawings, certified test reports, computer work documentation, etc.)
Properly using, caring for, and maintaining acquisition of tools, instruments, factory equipment, test equipment, and office equipment required to perform job tasks.
Maintaining extensive internal contact with all departments, contact with agents, customers, vendors, and IEEE committees as directed including technical presentations.
Performing all other assigned duties.
