Job summary

Royal Switchgear Manufacturing, a MacLean Power Systems company, seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the onsite engineering department in Bessemer, Alabama and oversee a 3rd party team in India. You will design products per IEEE specs and customer requirements, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Manufacturing Engineering to drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited school.
• 5+ years of relevant business and 3+ years supervisory experience.
• Self-motivation with a positive, adaptive, and success-seeking mindset.
• Working knowledge of Engineering principles, IEEE specifications and test methods.
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Computer hardware and software experience in CAD and CNC programming.
• Professional Engineering certification is desirable but not required.
• MBA is desirable but not required.
• Timely and well-organized communicator.
• Experience with ERP systems, INFOR SyteLine is a plus.
• Power and/or electrical system knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct onsite engineering department and a 3rd party engineering team in India.
• Communicates with other departments and vendors on technical matters as required.
• Providing support for Sales, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing Engineering.
• Designing products based upon the interpretation of IEEE specifications, customer specifications, and acceptable manufacturing processes.
• Providing supervision/development of Engineering personnel
• Assisting in business planning.
• Reviewing or developing BOMs to meet customer product requirements.
• Training RSMC personnel and sales agents regarding product design.
• Maintaining good working relationships with peers in all departments.
• Specifying and documenting the requirements for materials, processes, and products including all Engineering documentation (drawings, certified test reports, computer work documentation, etc.)
• Properly using, caring for, and maintaining acquisition of tools, instruments, factory equipment, test equipment, and office equipment required to perform job tasks.
• Maintaining extensive internal contact with all departments, contact with agents, customers, vendors, and IEEE committees as directed including technical presentations.
• Performing all other assigned duties.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Director of Engineering who is responsible for driving operational performance through planning, organizing and directing of the Engineering departments. Location: Onsite - Bessemer, Alabama

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Need To Excel In This Role
