This role focuses on safeguarding the physical plant, building systems, and guest comfort, while directing a skilled team in a fast-paced, full‑service environment.

The ideal candidate balances preventative maintenance with day‑to‑day operations, leads capital projects, and ensures compliance with safety standards.

• Lead, develop, schedule, and support the Engineering team.
• Coordinate repairs and emergency maintenance activities.
• Manage outside contractors and vendors to property standards.
• Support capital improvements and property enhancements.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and repairs.

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Director of Engineering to lead the Engineering and Maintenance operations at Residence Inn Berkeley. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical plant, building systems, equipment, guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas while ensuring a safe, well‑maintained environment for guests and associates.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader who can balance preventative maintenance, day‑to‑day operational needs, team leadership, vendor management, capital projects, and long‑term asset preservation within a large, full‑service hotel environment.

• Lead all Engineering and Maintenance operations for the hotel
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of the property's building systems, equipment, guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, and back‑of‑house areas
• Develop and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program
• Ensure guest room maintenance issues and service requests are addressed promptly and professionally
• Lead, develop, schedule, and support the Engineering team
• Conduct routine inspections of the property and identify maintenance, safety, and repair needs
• Oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, life‑safety, and other critical building systems
• Coordinate repairs, preventative maintenance, and emergency response activities
• Manage outside contractors and vendors and ensure work is completed according to property standards
• Support capital improvement, renovation, and property enhancement projects
• Manage departmental expenses, purchasing, inventory, labor in alignment with budgetary expectations
