Job Summary

The Director of Engineering is accountable for the functions of planning, execution, and support of one or more software delivery teams and/or products. In this role, you will empower, coach, and maintain staff on the engineering delivery teams, while facilitating team connectedness and engagement. You will work with product & business leads to form a multi-year plan, creating alignment within product roadmaps, and participate in the planning and prioritization of work. Additionally, you will audit for adherence to standards/regulations in security, financial, and legal matters, ensuring governance and compliance.

In this role, you will prioritize agile software delivery to ensure rapid and efficient development cycles, while embracing servant people leadership to empower and support our team members in achieving their full potential. A curiosity and passion for improving software build, deployment, and support with a close eye to customer focus will be strengths of this individual.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously work to foster ‘one team’ mentality across delivery and business team members. Radiate information to give staff the outside-of-team IT and business context for their work.
  • Align processes and tooling to IT operational governance requirements including SDLC Metrics, Software Standards, and Production Support.
  • Be an agent of change using lean and agile delivery methods to drive continuous improvements that support the team and organization in its pursuit of being a Product-oriented delivery team. Work closely with engineers, scrum masters and product owners to follow SDLC processes and metrics, and drive meaningful outcomes.
  • Participate in vendor selection, and contract development & review including deliverables, scope, SOW’s, RFP’s, SLAs, and KPIs as applicable.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

  • EDUCATION:A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • EXPERIENCE: Typically requires 8 – 10 years’ experience within IT and 3+ years’ experience managing IT employees, or the equivalent combination of education/experience. Experience leading high-performing IT engineering or agile delivery teams is required.
  • Experience building,deploying,and supporting hybrid solutions (cloud/on-prem).Experience with cloud-native development (Azure preferred) and hybrid solution development.Extensive experience building CI/CD pipelines with a developer-first mindset.Experience with automation, infrastructure as code and configuration management.Experience in infrastructure / operations leadership is preferred.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing solutions/systems and working under SLAs for availability and performance.
  • Expertise with Agile development in a medium to large organization, preferably with theSAFemodel.
  • Experience with medical underwriting business processes & applications, customer data integrations / data feeds, and/or insurance/financial services industry is preferred.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$143,750.00 - $273,250.00
