Qualifications

• Extensive experience in HVAC design, engineering, and project management is required.
• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years in engineering and 5+ years of managing and mentoring engineers.
• Professional certifications or industry-specific credentials are highly desirable.
• Exceptional leadership and strategic problem-solving skills.
• Proven track record of managing complex engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Proficient in drafting and design with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and principles.

Responsibilities

• Formulates short- and long-term objectives and standards of performance for the Engineering department in relation to new product development, manufacturing support, R&D, and product safety, function, cost, and certification.
• Drives technical solutions and provides leadership and direction to project teams responsible for execution from definition to initial production of programs and projects.
• Develops and directs technical strategies in support of overall business goals. Provide technical leadership, direction, and advice within the company.
• Determines engineering department headcount need and provides leadership and talent development throughout the Engineering team to attract and retain high caliber expertise while developing technical competencies consistent with industry leadership.
• Directs or implements development of Engineering Policies and Procedures consistent with Company objectives.
• Investigates and identifies new technologies that will result in process and product improvements.
• Proactively works with sales and product management to seek out market needs, competitor and peer products and trends in product design and functionality.

Director of Engineering for a market leading manufacturer of applied HVAC equipment

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall direction, leadership, strategic planning, and project implementation of the engineering department. The position is accountable for all current and long-term engineering strategies and functions, including new product development and maintaining/support of existing products. Primary responsibilities include supporting the workload of the engineering group, scheduling, and prioritizing work within the group, establishing the strategic direction of the department consistent with the company’s short- and long- term objectives, talent development, and deployment of technical expertise to achieve operational excellence across the department and on time/ on budget project execution. This position operates collaboratively with operations management, product management and quality management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Minimum of 10 years in engineering and 5+ years of managing and mentoring engineers.
• Professional certifications or industry-specific credentials are highly desirable.
• Exceptional leadership and strategic problem-solving skills.
• Proven track record of managing complex engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Proficient in drafting and design, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and principles.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a team of Engineers.
• Ability to effectively delegate tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
