Job summary

USA Jet Power in Oscoda, Michigan, seeks a Director of Operations to oversee engine maintenance processes, production, and material management, ensuring work is completed on time and to quality standards.

You will lead production and maintenance teams, coordinate with maintenance personnel and production planning, and drive continuous improvement in safety, cost, and delivery performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in aircraft engine maintenance.
• 5 years supervisory or equivalent management experience.
• Repairman Certificate or A&P (Powerplant) certification.
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret safety and maintenance documents.
• Ability to work both in a team and independently.
• Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance and production planning communication.
• Provide training, equipment, materials, and qualified personnel.
• Establish training needs and procedures.
• Train and assist subordinates in proper procedures.
• Improve quality, cost, safety, and on-time delivery.
• Ensure proper maintenance entries by AMTs.
• Ensure work outside the facility meets quality standards.
• Maintain preservation of units/parts during work.
• Handle parts properly during repair and storage.
• Communicate progress reports to customers and review man-hours.
• Update WIP status daily/weekly/monthly.
• Report obstacles affecting cycle time or financial results.
• Be available after hours to coordinate with Shift Leads.
• Conduct production meetings and train staff.
• Ensure department meets quality standards.
• Maintain clean and orderly premises.
• Ensure tools/equipment are maintained.
• Observe safety precautions.
• Ensure duty time limitations are followed.
• Follow engine shop manual procedures.
• Participate in staff evaluation and discipline.
• Participate in USA Jet Power Safety Program.
• Other duties as required.
