Job summary

HeartShare Wellness LTD in New York is seeking a dynamic Director of Education to ensure high-quality educational services for students with special needs. This leadership role supervises staff, leads teams, and oversees policy implementation to promote safe, inclusive learning environments.

The Director will report to the Senior Vice President of Education, supervise classroom staff, coordinate PBIS and curriculum, foster parent involvement, and ensure compliance with NY state requirements

Qualifications

• Master's degree in education or related field as defined by Article 47.
• Advanced Credentials in School Building Leadership (Advanced Certificate in SAS or SBL) required.
• Experience in Preschool Special Education Setting, minimum 2 years classroom teaching experience with children under 6 years.
• New York State Certified Early Childhood Teacher or related field as defined by Article 47 required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise teachers, assistant teachers, and aides.
• Evaluate performance during probation and annually.
• Provide written evaluation after observations and sign-off.
• Monitor daily attendance, schedules and lesson plans.
• Lead staff development and training activities.
• Participate in staff and administrative meetings.
• Assist in hiring decisions with Senior Vice President of Education.
• Meet with the Senior Vice President at least weekly.
• Ensure curriculum is developmentally appropriate and meets children's needs.
• Provide classroom consultation on behavior management and PBIS implementation.
• Encourage parent involvement through meetings, education, and fundraising.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness and supplies; report issues promptly.
• Conduct tours and presentations to educate the public about the school.
• Instruct a classroom as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
