Job summary

The Texas Attorney General's Office seeks a Director to lead the eDiscovery and Civil Litigation division, overseeing strategy, staffing, and budget in a high-stakes environment. You will advise trial teams, design workflows for collection, review, and production, supervise personnel, and ensure compliance with FRCP/TRCP as well as office policies.

This senior role requires a Texas bar license, 7+ years in law with eDiscovery, and strong leadership to align legal goals with technology and cost

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a J.D. or equivalent.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas or eligibility for admission.
  • 7+ years in legal practice with substantial eDiscovery or litigation support experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience; ability to manage complex projects.
  • Working knowledge of FRCP and TRCP and eDiscovery workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages all Division personnel, including hiring and performance management.
  • Advises trial teams on eDiscovery strategy, proportionality, and ESI-related motions.
  • Oversees litigation hold and data preservation programs.
  • Designs and enforces SOPs for collection, processing, review, and production.
  • Manages budget, including initial salary appropriation and future requests.
  • Represents the Office in meet-and-confer conferences and court proceedings on eDiscovery issues.
  • Establishes QC protocols and reports workload and metrics to leadership.
  • Coordinates with IT on infrastructure while maintaining control of litigation systems.
