Job summary

City of University Park seeks a Director of Development Services to lead and manage all development initiatives, including Building Inspection and Planning. You will guide projects through the development process, foster partnerships with SMU and other partners, and advance business attraction, retention, and redevelopment across the city.

The role requires strategic planning, supervisory experience, and strong communication skills to collaborate with departments and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or related field.
• Five+ years in development services; supervisory experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to engage stakeholders.
• Experience with zoning, development review, and strategic planning.
• Knowledge of Texas municipal development and economic development.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and implement economic development activities to diversify city revenue.
• Lead development projects through the city’s development process.
• Collaborate across departments to align priorities with land use and infrastructure.
• Foster partnerships with universities and regional partners.
• Supervise Building Inspection and Planning divisions.
• Prepare reports and dashboards on market trends and development activity.
