Job summary

Strategic Government Resources, on behalf of Missouri City, Texas, seeks a Development Director to turn a coordinated growth vision into reality across Fort Bend and Harris Counties. Reporting to the City Manager’s Office, the Director leads planning and zoning, permits and inspections, and community development, guiding policy updates and staff development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, or a closely related field.
Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
Valid Class C driver’s license and a good driving record.
Master’s degree in planning, public administration, or closely related field (preferred).
AICP certification (preferred).
Eight years of experience as a Director or Assistant Planning Director in a municipal setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

Lead planning and zoning, permits and inspections, and community development.
Help implement the updated Comprehensive Plan and align ordinances with policy.
Improve the application-to-completion process and coordinate cross-department reviews.
Coach division leaders and collaborate with Planning and Zoning Commission, ZBOA, and City Council.
