Job summary

The Connecticut State Department of Education seeks an Education Bureau Chief to lead the Office of Dyslexia and Reading Disabilities in Hartford. You will review educator program compliance, develop evidence-based literacy competencies, and oversee in-service training in collaboration with providers and partners.

Responsibilities include leading initiatives in structured literacy and reading assessment, guiding program development, and ensuring alignment with certification and literacy

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree and 10 years of education experience (or equivalent substitutions).
  • 3 years of advanced-level experience overseeing an educational bureau, system, or service.
  • 092 or 093 State certification or Sixth Year Diploma in Educational Leadership (preferred).
  • Experience in dyslexia diagnosis and intervention.
  • Experience developing and implementing Educator Preparation Programs.
  • Experience with educator certification and literacy instruction requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Office of Dyslexia and Reading Disabilities within the Connecticut State Department of Education.
  • Review compliance with educator preparation programs and literacy competencies.
  • Oversee in-service training programs and collaborations with providers and community partners.
  • Lead initiatives in structured literacy and reading assessment.
