Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Education seeks an Education Bureau Chief for Dyslexia and Reading Disabilities to lead and ensure compliance with educator preparation program requirements and related statutes.

Qualifications

• Earned advanced degree in education or related field.
• Ten years of experience in education or related area.
• Three years at advanced level overseeing an educational bureau.
• Substitutions: 092/093 certificates or Ed.D./Sixth Year leadership may apply.

Responsibilities

• Direct oversight of the Office of Dyslexia and Reading Disabilities.
• Review and update competency targets for structured literacy.
• Evaluate EPP compliance to include literacy instruction and current research.
• Develop in-service training for local and regional boards of education.
• Collaborate on evidence-based reading assessments for dyslexia.
