Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks an experienced Director of Business Development, DoW, to drive broad DoW opportunities and support the sales team across multiple defense programs. This fully onsite role is based in Tysons Corner, VA, with up to 50% travel to DoD customers and partners.

The ideal candidate will bring 7–10 years in U.S. defense BD, a broad DoW network, and a proven ability to shape opportunities from identification through capture, with strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7–10 years of business development and/or sales experience within the U.S. defense market.
• Broad network across the DoW and defense community.
• Proven ability to develop strategic opportunities across multiple defense organizations, programs, or commands.
• Excellent relationship-building, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work fully onsite in Tysons, VA with up to 50% travel.
• Preferred: experience in C-UAS, defense tech, or related markets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an overarching DoW business development strategy aligned with growth objectives.
• Identify and develop strategic opportunities across DoW programs and commands.
• Build and maintain senior-level relationships with DoW customers and industry partners.
• Support Sales Executives in developing accounts and opportunities within assigned markets.
• Advance qualified opportunities through the sales lifecycle and position for capture and closure.
• Coordinate efforts across DoW sales organization and multiple services/commands.
• Develop partnerships and channels to strengthen defense market position.
• Monitor priorities, budgets, programs, acquisition activities, and competitive trends.
• Provide updates, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to leadership.
• Represent the organization at senior-level meetings, demos, and defense events.
