Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago in Chicago, IL is seeking a Director of Donor Relations to lead strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of donor stewardship programs that deepen engagement and philanthropic support.

The role partners with Advancement, Communications, and Finance to craft impact communications, ensure timely acknowledgments for major gifts, and develop giving societies that inspire ongoing generosity.

Qualifications

• Experience with donor communications in previous positions.
• Knowledge of donor stewardship best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Experience with Raiser's Edge donor CRM is preferred.
• Experience working in faith-based or mission-driven non-profit organizations.

Responsibilities

• Strategy and metrics: Implement an annual stewardship plan reflecting industry best practices; design gratitude, impact communications, and donor loyalty strategies; establish metrics and dashboards to measure ROI.
• Events: Plan and execute donor engagement events; develop invitation criteria and stewardship communications to encourage attendance.
• Acknowledgment and reporting: Ensure timely expressions of gratitude for all commitments; oversee development of annual reports, newsletters, and donor recognition.
• Internal Partnerships: Collaborate with Advancement, Communications, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure stewardship efforts are informed and aligned.
• Team Leadership: Lead the Donor Relations team; set goals, monitor performance, provide feedback, and foster a positive, growth-oriented culture.
