Job summary

Utah State University is seeking a Clinical Director for the Distributed Veterinary Teaching Program (DVTP) to lead clinical education, operations, and partnerships. This Logan-based role reports to the Associate Dean for Clinical Programs and oversees the DVTP team.

The successful candidate will shape clinical learning environments across affiliated sites, supervise staff, and ensure program quality and accreditation readiness while collaborating with College leadership and external partners.

Qualifications

• DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree.
• Eligibility for Clinical Assistant Professor level or higher.
• At least seven years of professional veterinary experience.
• Current licensure to practice veterinary medicine in a U.S. state, or eligibility.
• Demonstrated veterinary leadership and supervisory experience.
• Experience mentoring veterinarians, students, or staff.
• Willingness to travel ~20–30% including overnight travel.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with AVMA accreditation standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the quality and development of veterinary clinical education delivered through the DVTP.
• Develop and implement clinical experiences in collaboration with College staff and partners.
• Lead expectations for workplace-based instruction and clinical supervision.
• Train and support veterinary preceptors in teaching, feedback, and assessment.
• Mentor clinicians to grow as effective clinical educators and site partners.
• Coordinate readiness of clinical sites, partnerships, and program administration.
• Collaborate with instructors and advisors to assess student performance and progress.
• Maintain consistent supervisor expectations across distributed sites and ensure professional behavior.
• Contribute to curriculum development, policy, and instructional materials.
• Use data and feedback to drive continuous quality improvement.
