Description

Directs food service operations within the community, including all food preparation, dining room operations, and dining delivery services. Purchases all food and manages inventory to ensure effective cost controls, vendor service, and quality. Ensures the highest nutrition and food quality for residents' health and enjoyment. Complies with all regulations to maintain sanitary and safe operations. Plans and executes dining events and themes in collaboration with Activities, Marketing, and administrative staff to enhance residents' quality of life. May cater events as requested.

Hires, trains, and manages supervisory staff for kitchen, dining, catering, and delivery services, ensuring a safe, sanitary, and pleasurable dining environment. Coaches staff on staffing, motivation, discipline, and training. Collaborates with chefs and cooks to develop menus that are pleasing and nutritious, incorporating residents' preferences gathered through surveys and daily contact. Coordinates with dieticians, nursing, and care staff to meet dietary needs.

Develops and manages the department budget, including purchasing and staffing. Approves food orders, maintains inventory, monitors budget compliance, and suggests adjustments to optimize quality and resident satisfaction. Promotes socialization and enjoyment through food presentation and events, and improves dining room décor for safety and comfort. Networks with Regional Food Service Directors to enhance operations and reduce costs.
