Description
Directs food service operations within the community, including all food preparation, dining room operations, and dining delivery services. Purchases all food and manages inventory to ensure effective cost controls, vendor service, and quality. Ensures the highest standards of nutrition and food quality for residents' health and pleasure. Complies with all federal, state, and local regulations to maintain sanitary and safe operations.
Plans and executes entertaining dining events and themes in collaboration with the Activities Director, Marketing Director, and other staff to enhance residents' enjoyment. May cater events as requested by residents or staff.
Hires, trains, and manages supervisory staff for kitchen, dining, catering, and delivery services. Ensures supervisors maintain a safe, sanitary environment and provide a caring, pleasurable dining experience. Coaches staff on staffing levels, motivation, discipline, and training.
Collaborates with chefs and cooks to develop nutritious, appealing menus. Gathers resident preferences through surveys and daily interactions, ensuring these are reflected in menus and events. Coordinates with dieticians, nursing, and care staff to meet dietary needs.
Develops and manages the department budget, including purchasing and staffing. Approves food orders, maintains inventory, and monitors costs to minimize waste. Adjusts operations to ensure budget compliance and resident satisfaction.
Encourages socialization and enjoyment through food presentation and events, and improves dining room décor for safety and comfort. Networks with Regional Food Service Directors to share best practices, reduce costs, and innovate.
