Job summary

Casey Trees seeks a Director of Development to lead the fundraising program across individuals, foundations, corporations, and government sources. The role interfaces with donors, staff, and boards, reporting to the CFO and guiding a small team to integrate giving streams into Casey Trees’ strategic priorities.

The position requires 8+ years in nonprofit fundraising, strong leadership, and the ability to drive revenue while maintaining donor relations and mission-aligned communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; or equivalent combination of experience and education
• Eight or more years of professional experience in fundraising and development within a nonprofit environment
• Minimum of three to five years of management experience and a track record of success in supervising, mentoring, and empowering a successful team
• Experience working as a spokesperson for a brand or mission
• Experience cultivating and expanding donor relationships over time including soliciting major gifts, engaging corporate partners and foundations
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize
• Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
• Understanding of fundraising, membership, volunteer, and advocacy needs
• Passion and excitement for the work and mission of Casey Trees

Responsibilities

• Provide vision, leadership, and oversight to Casey Trees’ Development Department to ensure departmental fundraising goals and targets are met or exceeded
• Develop and implement annual and long-range development plans and budgets in coordination with the CFO and senior leadership team; lead and coordinate staff and board efforts to ensure budgets are met or exceeded
• Set integrated revenue goals across individual and institutional giving, and allocate staff time and resources to meet them
• Develop, formulate, and institute new fundraising streams and campaigns
• Stay current on trends in CSR, philanthropy, volunteerism, equity, and place-based giving
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the Annual Fund Manager and Institutional Giving Manager
• Oversee the annual fund program, including seasonal appeals and donor programs
• Oversee the institutional giving program, including foundation, corporate, and government prospect research
• Oversee development operations, including sponsorships and donor support
• Review and approve fundraising proposals, budgets, and reports; mentor staff in materials quality
