Job description

Organization Overview: HomeAid North Texas, in partnership with the North Texas homebuilding industry, local nonprofit organizations, and community leaders, builds and improves housing and programmatic facilities for those at risk of and experiencing homelessness.

Position Summary:

The Director of Development serves as the "Relationship Architect" and "Growth Engine" for HomeAid North Texas. In this role, you focus exclusively on relational and financial capital—cultivating donors, winning grants, securing corporate partnerships, and accelerating in-kind trade procurement.

Because HomeAid operates as a unique "broker" rather than a direct service provider, our organizational growth is driven by leveraged impact rather than linear overhead staffing. Cash fundraising serves as the strategic fuel to sustain an elite, highly efficient core team, while our community impact scales exponentially through deep corporate relationships and built-in revenue models. While reporting directly to the Executive Director, this position works in close, lockstep alignment with the Senior Director of Strategy and Operations to ensure development pipelines seamlessly support overall organizational capacity.

Rather than operating in a fundraising silo, you will work hand-in-hand with leadership and the

Development Committee to champion this business-minded approach to philanthropy. You will actively partner with internal staff to capture the financial value of our building savings, structure corporate programmatic engagements for maximum sustainable margin, and scale our signature fundraising campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The "Portfolio Manager" of Philanthropy: Design and deploy a multi-channel development strategy that matures all strata of the donor world—cultivating competitive grants, monthly giving societies, individual major gifts, and deep corporate partnerships.
  • In-Kind Asset Cultivation: Drive strategic processes to ensure in-kind donations of building materials, specialized labor, and bulk goods outpace traditional cash giving, maximizing the unique leveraged multiplier of the HomeAid model.
  • Campaign Scaling (The "Multiplier"): Architect the donor acquisition and data tracks required to significantly multiply and scale our signature Builders for Babies campaign, implementing strategic processes to engage hundreds of new donors annually.
  • Value Translation: Act as the premier translator of HomeAid's complex model. Clearly articulate to production builders, trades, and corporate foundations why investing cash or in-kind assets yields a massive, multiplied return on investment for the community.
  • Signature Fundraiser Scaling: Lead the strategic growth of our signature Builders for Babies campaign. You will leverage wholesale product purchasing, expanding scope, and regional scale to build a highly optimized funding engine for the affiliate’s operations.
  • Strategic Margin Protection: Partner with staff to structure corporate engagement opportunities like Care Days and Essential Drives on a case-by-case basis, aiming to maintain a targeted 20% operational margin to keep programs financially sustainable.
  • Impact-Driven Case Support: Collaborate with the Director of Projects to integrate our "Pay It Forward" 20% construction savings fee metrics directly into our development narrative, turning actual build-cost savings into a powerful case for philanthropic support.
  • The "Culture Catalyst" (Internal Staff Coaching): Teach, equip, and empower internal staff— specifically collaborating and/or coaching the Director of Programs and Director of Projects—to comfortably manage relationship pipelines, navigate Salesforce, and confidently participate in relational development work.
  • Board Stewardship: Partner closely with the Executive Director to support, guide, and coach our Board of Directors. Give these industry executives the precise tools, templates, and talking points they need to activate their networks and secure commitments.
  • Affiliate & Partner Collaboration: Act as an accessible thought leader within the network. Provide occasional strategic development guidance or Salesforce best-practice coaching to peer HomeAid affiliates, national leadership (HAA CDO), or local care partners navigating unfunded capital building projects.

This is a Full-Time, Exempt salaried position. At HomeAid, we value outcomes over hours; we work to the job, not the clock, offering flexibility for high performers who deliver results.

  • Salary Range: Annualized base salary range commensurate with experience, offering incredible upward professional runway as our affiliate continues its rapid growth.
  • Health: 100% Employer-Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision for the Employee (Aetna Network). Family coverage options are available.
  • Retirement: 401k Plan eligibility via TriNet.
  • Unmatched Professional Visibility: Direct access to and active collaboration with a highly influential Board of Directors consisting of C-suite executives and division presidents from across the entire residential real estate and construction ecosystem—including premier builders, developers, financial institutions, title companies, architects, and major industry suppliers—offering an incredible professional runway and elite career networking.
