Job summary

Harvey, Inc. is seeking a Director of Detection and Response to build and lead a team that identifies threats, responds decisively to incidents, and translates learnings into stronger defenses.

You will own the strategy, technical direction, and operational readiness across production platforms and the corporate environment. You’ll work with the CISO and cross-functional leaders to convert business risk into a focused program that protects customer data and enables rapid, confident movement.

Qualifications

• Experience building and leading Detection and Response, incident response, or security engineering teams in a technology company.
• Deep incident response experience and judgment during serious security events.
• Strong technical foundations in cloud infrastructure, operating systems, networking, identity, and attacker tradecraft.
• Engineering approach to security operations, with detection platforms, investigation tools, or automation.
• Ability to turn business risk into a focused strategy through influence and partnership.
• Experience protecting enterprise SaaS or AI/ML environments is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the organization: hire and develop detection engineers, incident responders, and technical leaders; establish ownership and a culture of curiosity and continuous learning.
• Own incident response and crisis readiness: lead major security incidents, coordinating investigation, containment, recovery, and executive communication.
• Build detection as an engineering capability: set telemetry direction, detection pipelines, tooling, and automation across cloud, endpoint, identity, SaaS, and apps.
• Focus defenses on meaningful threats: prioritize scenarios with threat intel, hunting, insider risk, and privileged-access abuse.
• Make response a company capability: partner across teams and establish escalation authority, preserve evidence, and support legal decisions.
• Turn incidents into lasting improvements: conduct blameless reviews and drive measurable actions and reductions in customer impact.
