Job summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, the director will oversee research, surveys, program review, and data quality across the university, fostering a culture of evidence-based improvement

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in data science, higher education administration, or related field or 5+ years in institutional research/assessment.
  • Experience conducting statistical analyses and interpreting data sets.
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead institutional analytics and business intelligence functions.
  • Develop enterprise dashboards, scorecards, and KPIs for executive decision-making.
  • Conduct advanced analyses (enrollment, retention, graduation, student success) and predictive modeling.
  • Coordinate reporting (IPEDS, PASSHE) and institutional data quality.
  • Oversee assessment processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Chair the University Assessment Committee and promote assessment literacy.

The Director of Data and Assessment serves as the University's lead professional for data analytics, institutional research, business intelligence, assessment, and evidence-informed decision-making. Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, the Director provides institutional research, reporting, dashboard development, predictive analytics, and decision-support services that support strategic planning, enrollment management, student success initiatives, accreditation, and institutional effectiveness. The Director transforms institutional data into actionable intelligence through advanced analytics, forecasting, data visualization, and performance measurement. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining institutional dashboards, conducting predictive and prescriptive analyses, identifying trends and risk factors, and providing strategic insights to support executive leadership and institutional planning. In addition, the Director coordinates academic and administrative assessment processes, program review activities, institutional surveys, and continuous improvement initiatives that promote a culture of evidence and accountability across the University.

POSITIONDESCRIPTION
Data Analytics and Business Intelligence
  • 1. Lead the University's institutional analytics and business intelligence functions.
  • 2. Develop and maintain enterprise dashboards, scorecards, key performance indicators, and data visualizations that support executive decision-making.
  • 3. Conduct advanced statistical analyses and predictive modeling related to enrollment, retention, persistence, graduation, student success, and resource allocation.
  • 4. Design and maintain reporting structures that provide timely, accurate, and actionable information to University leadership.
Institutional Research, Reporting, and Data Quality
  • 5. Coordinate federal, state, system, and accreditation reporting requirements, including IPEDS, PASSHE, and other mandatory submissions.
  • 6. Develop institutional fact books, performance reports, and executive summaries.
  • 7. Ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of institutional data used in reporting and decision-making.
Assessment, Program Review, and Continuous Improvement
  • 8. Coordinate the University's academic and administrative assessment processes, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and accreditation expectations.Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of assessment results and facilitate the use of findings for continuous improvement. Champion use of Neuventive Improve campus-wide
  • 9. In collaboration with the Dean of the Center for Teaching & Learning provide guidance in the development of student learning outcomes, assessment plans, assessment methodologies, and improvement strategies.
  • 10. Manage institutional survey administration and analysis, including student, faculty, staff, alumni, and stakeholder surveys.
  • 11. Prepare institutional assessment and effectiveness reports that demonstrate evidence of continuous improvement and achievement of institutional goals.
  • 12. Chair the University Assessment Committee and promote assessment literacy and provide training and consultation to faculty and staff on assessment best practices.
Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness
  • 13. Support the development, monitoring, and evaluation of institutional strategic plan goals and performance measures.
  • 14. Develop institutional performance metrics and dashboards to measure progress toward strategic priorities.
Other Duties
  • 15. Serve on University committees and working groups as assigned
  • 16. Present analytical findings and institutional performance data to campus leadership and governance groups
  • 17. Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness
