Job summary

The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) in Austin, TX seeks a Director I to lead data analytics, performance reporting, and IT initiatives across the CHI Division. You will guide strategic initiatives, manage budgets and contracts, and partner with executive leadership to drive data-driven decisions.

This exempt, full-time role offers a monthly salary and telework eligibility, with travel up to 20%. Applicants should have strong leadership and public health analytics experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; a master's degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in public health, healthcare, healthcare informatics, or human services, or a related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience, including hiring, employee development, performance management, coaching, and implementation of human resources activities.
• Experience leading data-driven initiatives, performance reporting, data analytics, IT projects, strategic planning, budget management, contract administration, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead division-wide data analytics, performance reporting, intake coordination, and IT initiatives.
• Develop goals, budgets, contracts, and resource allocations; monitor progress toward milestones.
• Provide leadership to executive leadership and liaise with program areas and IT partners.
• Oversee policy development, compliance with regulations, and data quality.
• Manage complex division-wide strategic projects and report to senior leadership.
