Job summary

ACCEL Schools LLC is seeking a highly motivated Director of Academics at Academy of Arts & Technology in Marion, OH to lead rigorous curriculum implementation and teacher coaching. You will guide differentiated instruction, review plans weekly, and use data to drive student achievement across the school.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in education (Master’s preferred), teaching certification, and 5+ years teaching with 2+ years in instructional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education; Master’s preferred.
• Active professional teaching certification.
• Minimum five years’ successful teaching experience.
• Two years’ experience as Instructional Coach or Teacher Leader preferred.
• Proven ability to build relationships with staff, students, parents and boards.
• Proven results in increasing student achievement on state tests.
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience using data from tests, portfolios, observations to plan instruction.
• Strong written and verbal communication; professional in all interactions.
• Computer literacy and data privacy awareness.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Urban turnaround experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support instructional staff; guide use of materials.
• Differentiate instruction to meet individual students’ needs.
• Review lesson plans weekly.
• Conduct frequent teacher observations and debriefs.
• Model effective instructional practices and teaching strategies.
• Provide feedback, professional development and coaching.
• Offer targeted PD supporting curriculum and instruction.
• Use data sources to analyze barriers and inform instruction.
• Monitor student achievement data to inform instruction.
• Support intervention programs and monitor effectiveness.
• Work with parents to build confidence in instruction.
• Coordinate special projects (peer mentoring, service learning, community involvement).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
