Job summary

VCI Construction is a premier Southwest telecommunications and utility contractor delivering design, construction and maintenance of fiber optic and wireless networks. The Director of Operations Management will lead all construction operations, drive strategic planning, manage budgets and oversee field teams across multiple markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; MSc/MA a plus.
• 10+ years of operations leadership experience, preferably in construction or telecommunications.
• Proven experience leading large field teams and multiple departments/locations.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with data-driven mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and leadership abilities.
• Proficiency with MS Office and construction software/ERP.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and guidance for all construction operations, project management, design & engineering, and field crews across multiple markets.
• Develop and implement construction management strategies, policies, and best practices to boost productivity and project delivery.
• Monitor budgets, review financial information, manage job costing, and optimize resource allocation for profitability.
• Oversee the construction backlog and ensure PMs deliver complex network construction and utility projects on schedule and within budget.
• Enforce safety practices and quality standards, ensuring OSHA and environmental compliance.
• Collaborate with HR to develop job descriptions, hire, mentor, and train personnel.
• Manage vendor relationships and supply agreements, overseeing procurement and inventory control.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and partners for long-term collaboration.
