NuPeople is seeking a Director of Construction Management in San Francisco to lead a growing portfolio of mission-critical data center sites.   • 15+ years of experience in data center construction, mission-critical infrastructure, or hyperscale development.
  • Proven track record delivering complex data center projects from design through commissioning and turnover.
  • Deep expertise across MEP, electrical infrastructure, cooling, controls, and commissioning.
  • Strong experience managing general contractors and construction partners in an owner’s representative model.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across different U.S. markets.
  • Strong command of project budgets, schedules, change management, contracts, and construction risk.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment with aggressive deployment timelines.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience creating scalable construction standards, processes, and governance for a growing portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the owner’s representative managing general contractors, construction partners, vendors, and infrastructure providers.
  • Own and enforce design standards across architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, low-voltage, and IT infrastructure.
  • Review partner designs for performance, redundancy, scalability, constructability, and cost.
  • Drive projects from feasibility and design through construction, commissioning, and final turnover.
  • Own project schedules, budgets, quality, safety, and critical-path milestones.
  • Provide strong oversight of MEP and other mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Lead commissioning and operational readiness, ensuring sites meet acceptance standards before turnover.
  • Identify schedule, cost, design, and execution risks early and drive partners toward resolution.
  • Establish clear project reporting and governance, giving leadership visibility into schedule, budget, risk, and key decisions.
  • Help build the repeatable construction processes required to support a rapidly scaling portfolio.

Job description

A high-growth AI infrastructure company is building a next-generation platform for AI inference, delivering high-performance compute capacity closer to end users through modular, high-density data center deployments. The company is rapidly expanding its U.S. footprint and is looking for a Director of Construction Management to lead the delivery of a growing portfolio of mission-critical sites.

This role will manage projects through external construction partners, acting as the company’s owner’s representative and establishing the standards and operating discipline required to deliver infrastructure on time, on budget, and ready for operation. You’ll own the full construction lifecycle, with responsibility spanning design standards, execution, commissioning, and turnover.
