Job summary

The City of Delano is seeking an experienced Community Development Director with a strong planning background to lead the Community Development Department through growth and change. You will oversee current and advance planning, plan checking, building inspection, and code enforcement services.

The role requires directing staff, developing programs aligned with city goals, and preparing staff reports and council presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, city and regional planning, architecture, public administration, or related field; required.
• Master’s Degree in one of the above fields; preferred.
• AICP certification.
• Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning; two to four years of supervisory/management experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct departmental programs for community development; oversee planning, building inspection, and code enforcement.
• Prepare and present staff analyses and reports to the City Manager and Council.
• Coordinate with City Manager, City Council, and Planning Commission on growth and development while ensuring budgetary discipline.
