Job summary

The City of Delano is seeking an experienced municipal professional to serve as its Assistant City Manager. The role acts as a key administrative partner to the City Manager, directing high level projects and overseeing assigned departments.

The ideal candidate will have strong administration, communication, and problem-solving skills with a track record of cross-department leadership. This position reports to the City Manager and offers challenging strategic responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business administration, city and regional planning, or a related field.
• Master’s Degree in one of the above fields is highly desirable and may substitute for one year of administrative experience.
• Three to five years supervisory experience required.
• Maintain a valid California Driver License with driving record acceptable to the City.

Responsibilities

• Assist the City Manager in developing goals, objectives, and priorities and oversee special programs.
• Review and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental programs.
• Direct and supervise department heads on projects and oversight of departments/divisions.
• Coordinate City Manager’s office activities with departments and outside agencies.
• Prepare and review City Council agenda items and represent the City on boards and commissions.
